Film Office Website Recognized in International Competition
(Sarasota, FL –May 20, 2008) — The Sarasota County Film & Entertainment Office (SCFEO) received recognition from the Association of Film Commissioners International (AFCI) for its new website as part of the organization’s 2008 Marketing Awards competition, which recognizes a variety of creative marketing products entered by film commission members from all over the world.
SCFEO’s honorable mention placement in the digital website category makes it the only county-level film commission recognized in the top four of that category of the competition. Other top finishers include the film commissions of Malaga, Spain, the Commonwealth of Virginia and Gyeonggi Province, South Korea.
The SCFEO website www.filmsarasota.com was launched less than six months ago, with a Web 2.0 format designed by Sarasota’s atLarge, Inc. “When we partnered with atLarge, Inc. to create the SCFEO website we implemented new, innovative features and improved upon ‘standard’ features while incorporating a look and feel that would get the attention of industry professionals,” said Jeanne Corcoran, director of the SCFEO. “Our website helps put Sarasota County on the map as a film-friendly community with an abundant inventory of unique locations and a network of creative services professionals standing at the ready to assist productions as they come into the area.”
Uncommon features on the SCFEO site include the innovative “clipboard” feature allowing users to compile electronic lists of resources as they browse the site and an interactive multijurisdictional shooting permit form that can be submitted online. The SCFEO site also includes an interactive production directory that allows expansion and collapse of information depending on the user’s preference and a searchable locations photography library from which custom electronic photo files can be compiled and sent via email. To learn more about the Sarasota County Film and Entertainment Office visit www.filmsarasota.com or call (941) 309-1200 ext. 111.
